You Know You’re A Mother When……
You know you are a mother when…..
A dirty diaper doesn’t make you dry heave.
When you’re running towards a runny nose instead of running away from one.
When you look at your body in a whole new light. You knew it could do some pretty cool things, but birthing another human being? WOW..amazing!
When you find yourself doing homework again. Deja Vu?
When suddenly you find you’re not that important anymore, but somebody else is.
When your soap opera gets replaced by Max & Ruby
When your too tired to have sex at night, or at 5 a.m. for that matter.
When a bare bottom is the cutest thing in the whole world.
When the radio in your vehicle is no longer your own.
When you know what PTA means, and it does not stand for perfect T&A. Those days are happily behind you. (Get it?) You find that more important things matter now.
When you no longer have to question ‘Is this true love?’
When doggie bags get replaced by diaper bags.
When you start air drying your hair and blow drying someone elses.
When you hair starts turning grey from worry. It is a lovely shade for the upcoming holidays though, isn’t it?
When the dinner table is no longer silent.
When Christmas really does mean 5 months of bills. (Maybe more.)
When a kiss goodnight takes on a whole new meaning.
When you’ll put somebody’s toes into your mouth, and without gagging . (At least for a couple of years.)
When a road trip sparks a fear in you that can not be matched.
When your heart finally feels full.
When you know every word to every Blue’s Clues, Sesame Street, and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse song.
When ‘I can do it all by myself’ makes you want to cry.
When strained carrots on your brand new blouse isn’t so tragic. It’s likely not from Donna Karen any longer, but was sold to you by Karen Donnatelli at Kmart. Not so horrible, right?
When you no longer need an alarm clock on your nightstand to wake you.
When you see a new dress you would DIE for, but yet you come back with baby food and a dress for ‘her’ instead. (That’s love trust me 😀 .)
When your arms and your heart are never empty, ever again.
When a minivan starts looking appealing.
When some of the pictures of you with your friends come off of the wall, and pictures of ‘mini-yous’ are spackled wall to wall!
When you find yourself running marathons each and every day, only never crossing a finish line.
You never look at a cup of coffee in the same light again. It used to help sober you up, now it just helps keep you up.
When a messy and unrecognizable design on a piece of paper becomes a treasured work of art.
When the occasional glass of Merlot starts tasting so much sweeter. Sweet like liquid candy .
When sweats start looking good to you.
When trips to Vegas are out, and trips to Disney are in.
When you finally have found your purpose in life. You feel fulfilled and complete. That is when you know you’re a mom.
