Baby Names For Boys And Girls For 2010!
(Now released!)
12-05-2010
I have been busily working on family photo books for Christmas, over the past few days, and tomorrow is the deadline for the free shipping, which adds up to A LOT, and there is still much to do, with little time to do it in, but I had to post something, and so it must be short and sweet.
It has to be something I can write in about 15-20 minutes, vs. hours! How about the top 100 baby names of 2010!! YUP, that is right, the list is released, and so I’m going to bring it to you, and get back to my work.
Tomorrow everything will return to normal, so bare with me for today and tomorrow, and thanks for your patience. If anybody has any comments on their thoughts about the 2010 name list, or have a child on the list, or a favorite name for their baby to be, or whatever…feel free to comment below, and tell me what you think! Don’t hold back. (I never do!)
I still love Isabella, it’s a beautiful name, but the fact that it moved from #1 to #2…well, it’s still far too popular for me. (Not that I’ll be naming anymore babies) *Cry*. BUT the top names are popular for a reason. People love them. I just didn’t want to use something that you hear everyday, though I do adore it.
So Sophia is #1. I have met a few, but not THAT many. Guess I will be soon
. It is a beautiful name. I have gotten over the ‘Golden Girls’ aspect of it, surprisingly, because I still watch the re-runs (Classic show) . Should have used it as a middle name. I have total baby name regret with the middle names. Too late now, or is it? HA HA.
Anyhow enjoy, comment, and have fun, if you are expecting. I know a lot of women still love the baby name topic, pregnant or not. It is sadder for those of us, whose shops are now closed, but we still can talk about it!

WOW Adriana (Or Adrianna) got far more popular. Maybe good thing we didn’t go there, though I still love it though. Gabriella moved down. I still am sort of grieving over that one. I love Ava, but I know about 30 of them, and hear the name wherever I go. Avaliegh would be a nice twist huh? Hub wouldn’t go for it though.
Kendall, I’m surprised is up there, because it’s not a name you hear everyday, though I like it. See, names that you believe are so original NOW, may not be so much later. No one can predict that can they? In 1995 and 1996 when I had my first two kids, this list was VERY, very different!
Gracie? I thought that was a nickname for Grace, at least it is for my daughter’s friend. Never met a true Gracie, but guess…I will be. Mikayla was almost Ashlyn. It’s a pretty name, but for some reason, I’m turned off by Ashley, and the nickname ‘Ash’. Loved it as a child though. It was always the peppy, popular girl in the class.
Caroline is classic and pretty. Had a friend named Carolynn as a child, but never met a Caroline to date. It crossed my mind though, when naming the girls. It is quite elegant. Brianna was my favorite girls name back in ’95. Still a pretty name to this day.
I hate to say this, but Harper, I just can’t get into. Maybe it’s because it reminds me of Thelma Harper from ‘Momma’s family’…who knows? It’s not because it’s also a surname. I do like quite a few of those. (No offense to anyone who has a girl named this, I guess I just watched too much TV in my youth.)
I’m sure it’s fitting for some pretty young girl, it’s just hard for me to picture it, as of now, but once I meet a few, I’m sure it’ll change for me.
Sydney and Lyla (Lila) are adorable names, the hubby wouldn’t go for. I well have gotten over the Melrose place association. She may have been a b&tch that Sydney, but she sure was a beauty. So I do still like it to this day.
Annabelle I used to HATE, until I had an Annaliese and finally met an Annabelle….now I really like it. WEIRD! Guess I’m into ‘Anna’ names, big time. Paige to me, still seems like a better name for a middle name then a first, but again, still pretty in it’s own right.
Nora is cute, but she’s the district attorney on my favorite soap I have been watching since my grandma was alive and she watched it, starting like when i was 6 years old or so, till now (On and off of course), but One Life To Live, is something I’ll forever think about, when I hear the name Nora, as in Nora Buchanan (Etc. etc. ha ha). Never met a real life one though.
Alanna (Alana), I also considered for one of the girls, but is my cousin and friend’s name, so it seemed off limits. Pretty though. I’m sure back in the 70′s though, it was quite unpopular, and very unique for them. I never had one in any of my school classes, throughout the years.
And another A name..Audrey, is definitely becoming a big hit, along with Aubree. Audrey to me, will forever remind me of National Lampoon’s Vacation, which I LOVE all of them, Chevy Chase is hilarious, but I can’t get over that association either. Brooklyn? I just live TOO close to there, to use that one. I like Brooke though. Lynn as a middle name is pretty cool!
I had a dog named Zoey, so I could never get over that one, just like my cat named Bella, it just won’t fly after that, FOR ME, plus I’m one for longer names, but if you have a long last name, a shorter name fits well. It depends on your last name, your over-all style in names, and what your partner will agree with *Shaking head.*
Whatever you choose to name your baby, on this list or not, if you love it..USE IT!! Don’t let anybody else bring you down, because they don’t like it. Like in laws, parents, friends, etc.
My thoughts are to keep it quiet (Hush, hush), and tell them after the ink is dry on the birth certificates. (Everybody but the hubby of course). That would not be good! They can damper things, and why go through that stress and confusion? DON’T DO IT!!
As for a boy, I always liked Alex, Dylan, even Jayce, and I LOVE Hunter, and Ryder, I have never met one, but it sounds like a ‘Cool’ guy’s name. Jesse to. (Remember Full House?…YUMMY *Wink*. But alas,….sadly it didn’t make the list!). Conner, Colin, Brandon, Caleb…A LOT of those actually I love, and Mason of course!
Bryce is ok to, but Nolan? That to me sounds like a butler’s name, or a computer geek. The latter not being a bad thing. I never met a Nolan. I can’t envision naming a baby that, but to each their own. I’m sure many people don’t love my children’s names, and that is ok.
Have fun and feel free to express your opinions, as mentioned earlier, on this new list for 2010. I’m surprised it came out already. This is one subject where it’s ok to feel free to agree or disagree. It’s a totally opinionated topic, and a fun one indeed. Enjoy!
Can’t believe it. I did that in 24 minutes. Glad I am a fast typer and editor.
Till next time, from my asylum to yours. (JUST JOKING…In that kind of mood today). This is Shelly signing off!
