Toddler Twins & The Portrait Studio. Who Or What Can Survive That?

21 months & 3 days old. A fun & crazy age!
(This picture should be my own twins on Santa’s lap, but Kiddie Kandids didn’t save the pictures. I am SO angry. Don’t get me started. Will explain later.)
Boxes flying through the air,
Children running everywhere;
Mama’s sweat drips to the floor,
Tots are flying out the door;
Baby tears come pouring down,
Backgrounds pulled right to the ground;
Accessories yanked out of hair,
Again more sweat drips everywhere…
what am I talking about? Taking twins out for photos at your local photo studio, that’s what. Holy smokes what an adventure. And what a work out to. Zumba doesn’t make me sore, yet this does. Who’d think you could pull muscles during a photo session?
Let me just say, I think going in for family photos, especially with twins of this age, is one of the most stressful things ever. But every holiday, as per my family tradition, it must be done. It drives my husband crazy, but oh well. Getting the hair to stay right. Bows in place, don’t pull out your pig tail!
Keeping two bums sitting on the top of a gift box prop…are you MAD? It’s impossibly hard. You sit one child down, the other pops up and takes off, and this repeats until you either get the shot or shoot yourself.
They were too busy to give us two ladies in the room yesterday. Big mistake with my brood! There were a couple of times she had a shot and I’m like, ‘TAKE IT’ and BOOM she misses the boat by a fraction of a second. I often feel like grabbing the camera away and taking the damn pictures myself. Can I just rent out this room and equipment please?
Last time we had two lovely ladies who were very personable and great with the girls, and things went shockingly well for once since the twins were immobile. One of them was supposed to be working yesterday, which is why I made the appointment for that day. Guess what? Of course as is always my luck, she called in sick.
This one just did not have the personality and voice to get the twins to look. I was not walking out the door without at least one shot of them alone together. It seemed impossible, but as the sweat dripped off my brow I was die-hard on making it happen.
At target last year around this time, I remember them setting a timer and literally giving us 10 minutes. Sorry, unless you have one child or two older ones, well-behaved, 10 minutes does not cut it. JCPenney….I got to give them props. We had to be in there 45 minutes at least.
After me almost losing my voice from the tune of Itsy Bitsy Spider, and watching every prop get tossed about the room like a typhoon had hit, we got the shot. We almost got two, but she was a second too late. It was still cute..bought it anyway. It’s just a frustrating experience, but it’s worth the effort when I get to look back on it. I think I lost 10 lbs. in that room yesterday. Honey..ya know you could help to.
UGH! And here I thought in my naive mind that I would change their outfits like I used to do before twins and get pics of them in both. I pressed everything the night before, brought it along. Was I serious? Did I really think that THAT was going to happen? It did not. There was some damage to the room, but we didn’t get charged
.
You go through so much trouble planning an appointment time around naps and meals, and anything else you can think of, and still sometimes the mood isn’t right despite all efforts. Poor, poor lady yesterday. I think she left there and hopped right on the birth control pill. HA HA.
