I saw this cool and adventurous looking ‘mini-sled’ online and said, ”I need one of these.” Of course for the kids, but heck, I’m a big kid myself. So in looking at the unique design, which is unlike any sledding device I had ever seen before, I knew I’d be jumping on theZipfy myself. The company was generous enough to send me one from their artist series. The awesome print just makes this luge pop!
The very 1st time we went sleigh riding we brought along the Zipfy. I remember the teenagers fussing over it saying, ”That thing is sweet.” Indeed it is. While granted it was a little hard to get used to for some of us. We didn’t have the perfect snow for it right off of the bat. But If you watch the video, unbelievably the one who rode the Zipfy best right from the start of things was 3 year old Alessandra. She rides one handed like she’s riding a bucking bronco. It’s so cute.
Once things iced up, the Zipfy Mini Luge started flying downhill surpassing most sleds in distance. We were fortunate to get a ton of snow on multiple occasions over the past couple of weeks, so me and my family really were able to review this item on all snow types and even over jumps. Not sure if it is made for it, but it certainly clears them, ha ha.
Unlike traditional sleds the Zipfy is steerable using your body. This is a big perk when trying to avoid running another sleigh rider over. Most sleds have zero control. This does take some getting used to, but once you got it, you have got it. Like everything else it’s practice makes perfect. Also, it takes up no space at all so it can be put into the passenger seat of the car if you wanted to do so. It’s tiny in appearance, but even my 180 lb. husband was able to ride down the hills without problem. I could carry a tot on my lap to. So it looks small, but it does fit a wide array of riders.
The Zipfy is perfect for the entire family. It’s compact, and the design is so light-weight (3.5 lbs.) that even little riders can bring it up the hill. As a mom who doesn’t own snow boots and kept sliding on the icy terrain over and over again, I appreciated that I didn’t have to keep going down and bringing it up the hill for the kids. (All moms and dads know that story.) They just held it by the handle in front and brought it up to me. You can carry it just by holding it like a handbag, or swinging it over your shoulder. It definitely makes parents with those big, bulky, heavy sleds very jealous!
1) Lightweight (3.5 lbs.)
2) It has the option of a safety belt for small (or simply fearful) riders.
3) It’s very portable. It takes up zero space in the car, at home or in the garage.
4) It’s easy to carry from the car to the hills and back again. (And up the hills to.)
5) It’s steerable using your body.
6) It can suit children through adults, though they do have a Junior Zipfy. However, we don’t seem to need one with our tumultuous tots 😆 .
7) It is definitely faster than most sleds on the hill.
8 ) It’s more fun than sitting on a regular sled. It feels like you are in a real sporting event, not just trying to drift down a hill. It makes sledding more fun!
9) It’s won numerous awards, so you know you are getting a terrific and well-respected product.
10) It will never break like tubes, saucers and other flimsy plastic sleds. We chucked a $40 sleigh that cracked the other day. This has longevity and quality written all over it.
11) The price is right. Any really decent sled will cost you big bucks. These are under $50 and come in numerous colors and even special prints that make head’s turn. You will be envied, and kids WILL ask to try your Zipfy.
I have nothing negative to say except that just like most sleds, you need the right kind of snow to go really fast. That is a given. I definitely want to hunt down some even bigger hills in the near future. And again, the steering takes a little bit of getting used to. Kids may get ever so slightly frustrated, but once they figure it out they are good. It will be too much fun to want to give up on. Soon everybody will be Zipfy-ing like a pro!
Would I recommend this product to others? I already have, so YES! I even let strangers’ kids take a ride.
(Allie did not like that .)
I rate the Zipfy a wonderful 4.75 stars!

I know this will kick butt down even steeper slopes. I’m cannot wait to try! The steeper and longer the better. That goes for every type of sled. We had a lot of fun. So will you!
Happy riding & thanks Zipfy!
