The Glasses Party: Annie Shows Off Her 1st Toddler Specs As The Twins Celebrate 30 Months Of Age (WOW)
9-2-2012
My little cuties are 30 months old. 2.5 years old today!
My little baby girls, aren’t so little anymore. They are now opinionated, devious yet comical, intelligent and spirited, little ladies that are 30 month’s old today. That’s 2 and 1/2 on the nose. Didn’t we just have their party? I mean the 1st one! It’s just going by so painfully fast. (Yes, even the terrible twos I wish would go slower. I know even those I will miss someday.)
A milestone for Annie is the pick up of her 1st pair of toddler glasses for Accommodative Estropia. How did the transition to glasses go? Well, I am making a couple of videos and will add them below as soon as I get them finished up. At first.. things looked really promising. She left them on in the office (to start) and seemed to like wearing them.
Even the guy said he was impressed as most kids will instantly yank them off. You will see that as the visit goes on. She takes them off and kind of battles with different frames we tried on as a second, back-up pair. But the worst fear was still ahead of us. HER TWIN..ALLIE!
We came in the house. Annie with her specs on, and Allie wasn’t pleased. (SEE ABOVE PHOTO
) SHE wanted the glasses to and became angry. You can also see this in the video below once it’s posted. The jealousy even traveled to my 7 year old which I felt was insane, but any attention given elsewhere she always has gotten jealous of, even though she knew we had to make a positive fuss about Annie’s glasses to make her want to wear them. That it is a really good thing. She thought she looked too cute. GRRRRR!
My idea for having a little cake for them today to celebrate their 2 and 1/2 year birthday (since I did do 18 months and it’s one year later. I know I’m a nut job, but it was only cake..no gifts.) We turned it into a birthday/ glasses party last night instead.
Since the sunglasses I ordered for Allie that I am going to take the frames out of, didn’t arrive yet..I found a pair of my own old specs that only had one lens remaining and popped out the other. All of us ate cake and wore our glasses. No one was left out.
Here is Allie who grabbed dad’s glasses quickly after seeing Annie come home in her own pair
Then in the ones I gave her for now
(Oops..wrong way)
That’s better
Big sis chimes in
(My son has glasses to, but he prefers his contacts, though he did wear them for her. Sorry, he refuses to be part of my blog. Nearly 16..what can I say?)
When Annie saw others in glasses she immediately called out for her own up in the cabinet. ‘My glasses..glasses.” I may have to start wearing my own full-time for her benefit. Still I knew Allie would be a MAJOR issue. She was happy for awhile, (Allie I mean), but at her age she pretty quickly realized her glasses had no lenses and were not the same. She wanted to try on Annie’s pair. We don’t want them to get used to that.
They are used to having everything ‘the same’. What one has, the other has. Annie will go and fetch Allie the same outfit that she has for herself, and mom will fetch matching bows. So I guess it was no secret that Allie wanted the same glasses to. I just don’t have an extra $426 laying around, though I wish that I did because it surely would help out.
So is she wearing them full-time? No. She wore them for the party and they already seem to slip down that little nose of hers, and may already need adjusting.
They got cake all over them, fingerprints, and were dropped to the hard ground in that amount of time, but at least she didn’t twist and break them..YET. She saw us all in the glasses, we celebrated like it was a really great thing, and as horribly sad as I was over glasses ruining my poor little girl’s face and taking that away from me, I honestly think she looks like a stunner in them!
Annie can pull them off.
(In both ways I guess you could say!)
The party came to a quick and sad end when somehow Annie’s favorite ‘me me’.. (her paci which needs to go bye-bye soon), ended up in the next-door neighbor’s yard. Someone got to it before we could. She was HYSTERICAL! Hubby quickly ran to the store and bought several, more enticing me me-s to finally calm my poor baby down. You got to admit it was awful funny though.
And so the journey continues on…..

And the clan.

PS- My best, life-long friend had an operation this past week on her back. She was to come home today, but I just got word that she has a bad staph infection now and was put into ICU. I’m a wreck now. No further details are known as of yet, but any prayers for my best friend are HIGHLY appreciated. She has three small children. Thank you!
