The Belly Bandit (3 Versions) Vs. The Squeem Belly Binder For Postpartum Women: An In-Depth Review 5 Years Later
The Belly Bandit (3 Versions) Vs. The Squeem Belly Binder For Postpartum Women: An In-Depth Review 5 Years Later
My little cutie pies are 5 years, 7 months, 1 week & 2 days old.
11 weeks postpartum after dedicated binding
with the Squeem post twins! (Babies # 4 & 5)
You have heard me sing the praises of Squeem for 5 and 1/2 years since my own postpartum recovery, and now after my waist training down with a smaller size.
I gained some weight (10 lbs.) over the past 5+ years (40 now), but lost a couple more inches!
When you get older you kind of want the extra weight for your face and stuff. Helps you look younger :-P.
(Did a couple videos on YT. More to come.)
I am as passionate as ever about the brand. I came back around to discuss the pros and cons of the popular, but not nearly as popular by Internet reviews and number of overall purchases as Squeem, vs.the Belly Bandit. Even their better more pricey models, including ‘ the bamboo style’ and the newer BFF model do not hold a candle to the durability and effects of the Squeem. Real customers.. real people don’t lie! (We will get into much detail below.)
My friend who just had a baby boy (her 4th child) accepted a free Bamboo Belly Bandit from her older sister. I mean who wouldn’t want to try something for free, right? I always loved that word myself 😛 . Now I had my twins after she had her last, and she was highly impressed by my results, but again, she got it for free and decided to try it. I ordered her a Squeem though because I knew she would be wanting it. Around the Internet you read a lot of negative information on message boards and other sites about the Belly Bandit. A good idea, simplistic and appealing design, but it does have many a flaw, and now I was able to see everything for myself, as did she. Here is what we have figured out about the Belly Bandit brand with certainty.
1) Loses stick over time. In other words, the Belly Bandit won’t last.
Velcro may be quick to fasten, but it wears thin, and not only does it get stuck on everything, but after the newness is gone from it, it becomes less and less sticky. Therefore brands like Belly Bandit and Shrinkx with their Velcro wrap styling will never go the distance. They will start losing their stick and become basically useless. If it doesn’t stay fastened how can you keep the compression you need going?
Example of a Velcro belly binder. It attracts all kinds of junk over time from clothing, etc. no matter what you do, and loses shape on the binder itself.
I believe this MIGHT be a Shrinkx binder, but don’t hold me to it. It’s just a gross example. Look at your kid’s Velcro shoes. I know I sure have.
Eventually they get clogged and lose stick altogether. Even if not clogged, continued use causes loss of stick. It’s just a fact.
2) The Velcro wrap style is bulky. There’s zero ‘wear out in public’ ability.
With this type of binder, unless you wear a huge moo-moo, you have no option of concealing while you heal and go out in public while wearing your binder. It’s just way too bulky and obvious, unlike the Squeem. That is huge to many women, as most women are looking for results while they are both inside and outside of the home.
Post baby or not, Squeem makes a HUGE difference!
(Look at other under clothing photos you will see down further below.)
3) The Belly Bandit sizing stinks. It’s not made for everybody!
The Belly Bandit’s XS model only goes down to 28-30 inches at the waistline. Where do you go after that? So if you started out with a waistline under 28 inches apparently, you will not be able to compress down to where you once were so what’s the point? That garment would not have helped me nor many women I know. The Squeem XS will take you down to 25 inches. The size chart says 25-27, but I will bet you on that second row of adjusters, that the few people who started out with 24 inch waistlines (POSSIBLY even smaller) will achieve their goal thanks to the materials in this particular garment brand.
I was able to shrink down two inches below the size chart minimum myself, so I’m pretty sure of this. Pure cotton could never compete. And on the flip side, the Squeem has sizes for very large women also looking to heal and improve themselves. Big is beautiful to, Belly Bandit doesn’t seem to cater to such sizes while Squeem goes up to 5XL and rightfully so. They need to expand their size range to fit the smaller and larger women of the world. They both exist.
4) The Belly Bandit gets permanently stretched out fast, and women complain that pretty quickly they need a smaller size. It isn’t practical.
I have heard of women buying 2 sizes (some even more) of this binder during the recoup process, and it wasn’t because they were shrinking so fast – body wise, it is because the cotton wasn’t holding its shape and was becoming over-stretched through just basic wear. It becomes not at all economical, and it isn’t like it costs $20 to start with. The Bamboo Belly Bandit runs about $70 without shipping.
To buy numerous sizes not because of your results but because the garment isn’t snapping back to where it should be and giving you that great compression anymore, that is a really big problem. My friend is TWO sizes bigger than the size her sister gave her (she’s only 1.75 weeks post baby. She has big babies to. 9 lbs. 12 oz.) And she said it would not be able to fit her very soon, as it is stretching out more already. So she should be 2 sizes smaller as per her waistline from the Belly Bandit size chart, however, her sister used it and it’s now stretched. It shouldn’t be this way. That is why an all cotton garment is not something that is going to last you.
I used to stretch out the necklines of my cotton t-shirts, and for my anal twin Allie I stretch out some of her clothing because everything ‘hurts’, which means bothers her. So almost daily she complains ‘this is too tight mommy stretch it out.’ Whenever I have stretched something out for myself or for Allie for example, it works! It’s cotton! It stretches out pretty darn easily, but it does not ever go back to where it was again. Once the elastic fibers are damaged that is it. With the Squeem intelligent fabric technology of a special blend of cotton and latex, unlike other binders with the two ingredients, this is not an issue.
Squeem’s Intelligent Fabric:
Squeem’s Intelligent Fabric molds your curves into perfection using a triple-filtered cotton lining for superior comfort. The 100% natural rubber exterior allows the garment to adapt to every sensual size and shape. No garment on the market possess this exact blend of materials and specific design as does the Squeem. Don’t be fooled!
It’s Brazilian made and has been around for 80 years now, since 1936 and counting. Obvious to say that Squeem is no fly by night company that popped up a few years back for certain. Squeem has been molding figures and doing favors for women for many decades. But their blend of fabrics allow the garment to maintain its shape. So if you have another baby down the line, keep your Squeem around. You can and will be able to use it again. The material maintains its shape, size and if it ever becomes less snug on you it is only because you have dropped down many inches. You can then use the second row of adjusters for a snugger fit for even greater inches loss.
Instant results that conceal while you heal, and the results become permanent with wear!
The liquid skin comfort and styling can always get a woman back to where she was with dedicated wear, however, in the cases where lots of weight and inches are lost there have been repeat customers that have purchased a smaller size down the line. At least you know if that happens it is money well spent. Not because your garment stretched out but because you have lost a lot, which nobody has EVER complained about that. They are thrilled for it in such cases. But again, due to the fit, the majority of women don’t ever need to buy a smaller size to get back to their desired, former bodies, so it is more economical unless like me you choose to go above and beyond your former pre-pregnancy size and waist train. This is a huge bonus with the Squeem.
5) There’s no denying it. The Belly Bandit rolls up and down and can chaff the skin. You are NOT getting comfort and incredible quality for your money. The Squeem will NOT do this.
A real Belly Bandit customer
I have seen binder marks so bad that women have actually BLED from the cutting into their skin.
This is COMPLETELY unacceptable in my book!
I got to test this out firsthand. It is a major complaint among women with the Belly Bandit binders and other like models like Tauts. Shrinkx, etc. Nobody wants to bend over or sit down to say type on the computer like I am doing right now and feel discomfort, shifting and painful folding of their belly binder. They don’t want to think about it. With the Squeem it is so close to liquid skin and so comfortable that you can forget you are wearing it. With the Belly Bandit you never forget. Like I said years ago I tested out this theory, and now I have yet another ‘in real life’ voice under my belt to prove this fact in actual reality, even though you read it all over the web it is nice to have that personal experience. I like first-hand knowledge to be able to provide an honest review of something. This was not my first friend to try a Belly Bandit, and she got a gift from me of the Squeem and she was super thankful.
When you sit down it rolls down at the top. Other complaints are folding, pain upon sitting, chaffing, sometimes even cutting of the skin. With the rolling and quick loss of shape of the garment both on and off of the body. The only way to feel somewhat normal is to sit up abnormally straight and still. Complaints are that it is still stiff, but who among us are statues? The fabric shifts against the skin and becomes slightly painful and can be itchy, making you wish to remove the garment.
Heck, I had twins. I had to have something that I could bend over to pick up anything I needed, hold my babies, lie one baby down in a bassinet while feeding the other, drive to pick up my kids from school, have something not show through my form-fitting clothing. (Hey, since you conceal while you heal so well in a Squeem, why not show off your soon to be actual new frame while results are becoming permanent with wear? I did.) I wasn’t sporting moo-moos. Only in the hospital. And also, during my most dedicated binding weeks, I wore it to bed also. I can’t imagine being comfy enough in that garment for that.
This is UNDER clothing. You can’t do this with any style of Belly Bandit.
(Or any Velcro wrap.)
6) C-section safe??? The Belly Bandit? Um, not so sure about that.
Are you kidding me? They claim to be, but 1st off how can anything with Velcro near a healing wound like a c-section scar be favorable? It pains me to think about. And rolling, folding, itching with a not-yet-healed scar like that? Heck no! You need to protect the area and not have anything abrasive against it during the healing process. Neither of my friends who tried the Bandit had a c-section, but in just thinking about it and all of the flaws that were noted on our end here and on the web, I know I wouldn’t put it near my belly if I had surgery. NO WAY! You need something that moves with your skin, like true skin, and won’t move around or cause itching of any kind. That is the Squeem. I have ALWAYS referred to the Squeem as liquid skin, and that is what a woman wants after surgery and just in general.
7) The newer model – BFF Belly Bandit has major issues to.
Actually, if you look around the reviews are worse for this model than previous ones. It has two Velcro adjusters, and we have seen this type of thing on Shrinkx and also Chinese made cheap replicas. Compressing one area of the belly more so than the other does NOT work. Having two adjusters for two areas or more even is not a practical design, it’s more of a design flaw.
I will explain why.
If you compress one area vs. the other more so, you are pulling the abs together of one portion of your belly with an increased force vs. the other. One side less, one side more. This will cause an abnormal looking shape upon removal of the garment, incomplete healing of the abdominals, and if diastasis is present you will heal one area and not the other. The extra force on one area may in actuality cause an increase of pressure on that area, causing bulging and tension, therefore making an abdominal separation worse. Both halves need to be supported equally to maintain a proper hourglass shape, as the Squeem is already shaped like this before you even put it on to enhance and bring out this shape in every woman. And it heals evenly and thoroughly in every area necessary. It doesn’t make sense to do things any other way.
Nude also available
I understand why they would THINK this would be a nice concept since women are naturally smaller above the pooch, however, it’s not proper for postpartum healing to have dual straps like this to be in control of the force of the two halves of the abdominals. It can be damaging and cause uneven results at best. Get something made with the hourglass shape we all know and love and want to see back after baby. The Squeem has that. These other binders just can’t compare. Squeem doesn’t damage. It heals and molds your shape into what you are looking for.
Severe creasing is considered to be ‘normal’ with this garment, which makes sense if you are having dual controls, and you can expect to pay roughly $80 before shipping. Also, do not plan on wearing this underneath clothing AT ALL, and the issues with the Velcro are still the same as the original and Bamboo Belly Bandit models. The stretching out has also been noted. It would be quite expensive to buy multiples of these garments, and not sure to loss of inches, just wearing out of the elastic materials involved. So, in trying to fix some past flaws, it seems like this item is becoming an even a bigger flop. Plus, it has been known to not fit anybody but women with short torsos. I have had customers with long and short torsos. Women who were tall and short – never any complaints with the Squeem.
The benefit of Velcro closure? Only one. It goes on in a few seconds, while the Squeem might take you 60 seconds or so. You weigh out the pros and cons there.
8 ) Affordability between the garments – most bang for YOUR buck!
Comfort + results =’s a happy mama! Adding affordability, because the price of one Squeem vs. 3 Belly Bandits is INCREDIBLE in its savings. The basic model of Belly Bandit is comparable in price of a Squeem perfect waist garment, and the bamboo is over $15 more than a Squeem. Times that by having to buy more than one garment because of stretched out cotton, and you just lost some loot that could have been spent on a cute outfit for your baby or twins, or skinny jeans for you! So, to those who ask me if after 5 years do I still recommend and stand behind the Squeem garment.. YES, YES, YES!
My own results will always keep me a fan, but the results I find out about via emails and sometimes even through shared photos from other women is such a joy to me. It continues to aid in my faith and love of the garment. For waist training I could have chosen ANYTHING. I chose Squeem 5 years later. It brought me down to the waistline I had before my kids. (My 1st size way back when). I wanted to try and get a bit further, and I didn’t choose any other brand to achieve this. I even got the vest model to so I could help people out with questions about that model as well as the Perfect Waist, and test it out for myself. I love the vest and the perfect waist for their own reasons, and I will recommend them till the day I die. I have been SOOO happy to be a reseller of this brand since I made my results public.
To help others is, and always has been, my greatest passion in life. To feel like I am doing this and to get emails from people who let me know how much I have helped them with my story and with the garment itself, it does my heart A LOT of good. It helps me know I make a difference in the world, even if it’s a small one, and that is all anybody really wants to do in life. I’m proud of Squeem, and I hope you liked this piece. I felt like after my friend’s recent baby and Belly Bandit experience, I just had to do an article like this. It took a lot of time, but it was worth it.
As an honored re-seller of Squeem I have prices set as low as they are allowed to be sold at, as per Squeem policy/ rules for re-sellers. If you see prices any cheaper – run don’t walk. It may not be an authentic garment. (Yes, replicas are out there being sold. I have seen it firsthand.) They CAN NOT be true Squeem resellers. (Call Squeem, ask about Twinpossible if you wish! They know us well.) It may be a tried on garment or worse. It could be stored in a basement by someone who has bought in bulk God knows how long ago, It may be an old model. Just make sure to be smart in your shopping experience. I hate seeing people get shafted and cheated out of their hard earned money.
I don’t order Squeems until you place your order. I lose a lot of money in shipping doing things this way with my orders, and I do not charge more on your end. Prices have always stayed the same. I do this (selling Squeems through the company ONLY) more to help others than to make money. Help out women who are now in my shoes praying to get their old figures back after baby (or babies in my case). So, I do it the way I would want it to be – hot off the presses. I can do it no other way, and I know my customers appreciate this.
