Sentimental Saturday! Twins In Review. 17 Months +.
8-13-2011
We are floating our way to a year and a 1/2 old!
It’s that time again. Well actually yesterday was ‘that time’, but Mama P. nodded out before she got to publish her post.
I’m sure you twin moms, especially twin mommy bloggers, will understand that all too common scenario.
Whelp, we are at 17 months and 1 week, 3 days old. It’s been the fastest, most hair-raising, spine tingling, amazing adventure of my life! They were always bright babies, but have turned into VERY intelligent tots in the past few months.
The amount of words they say has grown immensely. They can repeat nearly everything to, and understand most anything you tell them. Best of all they are aquiring a special empathy towards their co-twin which is amazing to watch.
Example, we are at the park. Both are with me at the slide, far away from the wagon with the bottle of juice in it. Annie screams ‘BOP’ and let’s out a couple of cries. I’m thinking I don’t want two or three of my 6 year old, so I waited for a second to see if she’d go and get it herself, MAYBE? Too far apparently.
I was about to get up when Allie crept down from the top stair of the slide, scurried on over, got the bottle out of the bag, scurried on back, and gently tried placing the tip of the nipple in her sister’s mouth. Annie grabbed it and drank. She then made a gesture like ‘thanks sis.’ It was so adorable.
They share now, and the biting, pulling, hitting phase seems to be starting to fade already. This is the most fun the twins have ever been, even though they are also the most energetic now so mom definitely doesn’t need the gym. Anyone who asks how I do it, meaning my body after babies, all I can do is laugh and say, ‘Pick yourself up a pair of these.’ Seriously, twins will get you into shape and keep you there.
They honestly just blow my mind and are actually quite funny to. If one does a fart she will make a fart sound with her mouth and laugh about it. If one twin or the other has a stinky diaper, usually they will let you know with a fanning of the nose and a finger holding it with the other hand. ’Pewww.’ They also say, ‘Ew.’
Allie can say Grandma which is incredible, and call to the neighbors at the fence by their names! I love it when I sing to them the old school song, ‘Just throw your hands in the air. Wave ‘em like you just don’t care.’ They do it with ear to ear smiles! They also love JLo’s Get On The Floor. A fan favorite to dance to.
Check out one of their newest hobbies. Then when one gets down and does it, the other must follow along but says, ‘Hey anything you can do I can do better. See I can lift up my arm at the same time. Or my leg and still balance. Try that one sucker!’
Here they are showing off their ‘trick’ at the beach. Now it’s anywhere at any time thing.
Twin A doin’ her thang
.
Twin B showin’ off her skillz
!
Trying on big sister’s old helmet. A perfect fit.
No picking and riding please!
I said they were smart, I didn’t say they were classy
!
I think I’ll just skip the tricycle and go straight for the two wheeler.
Mommy would NOT be surprised.
Mikayla, unfortunately, was not so lucky.
Seems like this project is going to take some more time!
Twins siting pretty poolside. Look how grown up they are compared to the babies they once were. *TEAR*.
Suddenly attention is diverted.
The plane, the plane!
This is what God invented bath tubs for.
Cute lil’ mess I am.
‘Think we could fit ‘ol mom in this bucket & toss her out to sea?’
‘Only if we chop her up first.’
So many wonderful and crazy things have gone down in the last 17 months. As much as I am not a person who enjoys change, admittedly, I can’t wait to see what they will be up to next! Tune in next time for more twinkie fun.
After 45 months of trying to conceive, who knew how special being double blessed would be?
