Peg Perego Stroller Recall: Entrapment And Strangulation Hazard!
Peg Perego Stroller Recall: Entrapment And Strangulation Hazard!
7-26-2012
Approximately 223,000 Peg Perego strollers have been recalled. These include the Pliko-P3 and Venezia models. Th reason behind this recall is because a child can become trapped and potentially strangled if they are not properly harnessed into the stroller. Most particularly, children who are one year old and under.
One fatality has already been reported, so it’s very important to check your Peg Perego stroller against the model numbers listed below to make sure your child’s ride is a safe one. If so, you must contact the company and receive your free repair kit right away.
A 6 month old male infant from Tarzana, Calif. died of strangulation in a stroller in 2004. And then a 6 month old female infant from New York was nearly strangled to death in 2006, according to Peg Perego USA Inc. My 6 year old had a 2005 Venezia model still in our garage. I know it was a popular ride.. the Peg Perego, so it’s important to be really safe and check out your own if you do have one in your garage or the back of your car that is still being used.
The strollers were sold in Buy Buy Baby, and where we got our own, Babies ‘R Us stores. It certainly would have been possible to obtain the strollers elsewhere, including online..such as: Amazon, eBay, Craigslist, and also online/offline stroller retailers. The were sold at a retail cost of $270- $330.
Now listen up! The affected models were made between January 2004 & September 2007. Only strollers that feature a snack tray and cup holder are involved in this recall. If the model has a bumper bar in front of the snack tray and 2 cup holders which sits in front of the child, that model is not part of this Peg Perego recall. If you are at all unsure I am listing all model numbers below. It does no harm to check it out.
Check out the differences below:
Pliko strollers with a front bumper or a child tray with two (2) cup holders (photos below) are not included in this recall.
Strollers with one cup holder in the child tray (photos below) are included in this recall.
