My Bucket List: Things I Want To Accomplish By 37, By 40, By 45, & By The Time I Croak. What’s On Your List?
4-29-2011
I woke up early, and since it’s Foto Friday, which is an easy posting day, I figured I’d do 2 blog posts this morning. I’ll post the other later on.
So….I know you all have dreams, hopes, goals for the future. But do you ever really sit down and think about them, enough to put them down on paper or, ‘on monitor’ in this case, and make a real list of them? Me neither, so that is why I am doing it now.
Where do you want to be in a few years from now? What other things would you like to do and accomplish before you die, no matter how crazy it may seem or sound. Putting your goals and desires down in print or text file, I think might just help make accomplishing more of them easier.
Most people reading this are busy moms much like myself, so go right ahead and give yourself some extra time on this list. Only you can decide the date(s) for your list, but for me I’m picking by the time I turn 37, which will be September 2012..YIKES! ( I just turned 27, didn’t I?
) So, that’s less then a year and 1/2 from now.
I’ll also create a list for 5 years from this date. A quickie from 10 years from this date, and then my ‘before I die’ list!
By the time I turn 37.
#1) Not get pregnant within that time frame. HA HA…(Ok, they don’t all have to be super serious.
)
#2) Have 5,000 or more Twitter followers.
#3) Be one of the top 50 mommy blogs out there. Maybe top 100 would be more realistic,
but still not an easy feat, to say the least, out of many thousands. I can try though.
#4) Accomplish something that will help better the world, in some way.
#5) Move into our own home, not a home passed down from mother in law. A REAL home, I can call my own.
(I may have to give this one more time then that though.)
#6) Finish & publish at least one of the 3 books I have been working on for a couple of years on and off.
Get 1 or more completed, and finally get something finished and out there, whether it soars or it tanks, I’ll feel proud of ME.
#7) Patent and get at least one of my invention ideas out there, and on the market.
Stop thinking and talking, and start doing!
#8) Get into the best shape of my entire life.
(Well maybe the best shape of the past decade, at least. No one can rewind the cock that far. Gravity does take it’s toll.)
#9) Take a family vacation.
I have not been anywhere since my honeymoon, so obviously nor has my family. My 5 year old has never been anywhere at all, so I’d love to finally be able to afford a Disney vacation or something. That would be my #1 goal for a place for us to go. I’m a big kid, so that’d be amazing!
#10) Get my parents to see me as an adult, and fully respect me as one.
I’m still like 15 years old to them, especially to my mother. I want the respect of being a mid 30′s mom, who is self sufficient, and have been for a long, long time.
#11) Take a dance class, and perform in a recital like when I was a little girl.
That used to bring me such joy. I haven’t done anything on stage, like acting or performing, since college. LONG, long, time ago.
#12) Read a book from front cover to back. Not an easy task with twins.
(Guess easier then some of these other ones.
)
#13) Go and ride a mechanical bull.
I have always wanted to try that, but never went any place that had one, but they are out there, and I want to do it. (I’ll be sure to bring the video camera if and when I do this. NO, when I do this.)
#14) Get my husband to dance again, even if he isn’t good at it, and HATES IT, (which he does).
I haven’t seen him dance since our wedding. It’s really funny and adorable to watch.
In the next FIVE years, I would like to:
#1) Have a trip with just me and hubby back to Las Vegas again.
#2) Be able to afford to get a new boat for the family.
One we can all fit on, and be safe on.
#3) Move out of New York to someplace warm, like Florida, California, The Cayman Islands.
#4) Still not be an embarrassment to my children.
(Difficult task for any mom, I know.
)
#5) Bring joy to sick children in the hospital.
I have always wanted to do that.
#6) Get on an airplane without needing to be blitzed to try and cope, because flying is one of my greatest fears.
I freaked out the passengers the last time I went. That was a really long time ago though. Right after 9/11. The turbulence completely scared me to death, and the whole plane knew it.
#7) Be a nice-sized income contributor to my family, while still managing to stay home with my children.
#8) Ride a jet ski again, and maybe even own one.
I loved riding those things with my old friend. I’d love to have one of my very own.
#9) Renew my wedding vows in a beautiful ceremony.
#10) Be accomplished at something, that will make me proud of myself.
My kids are my greatest accomplishments, and always will be, but I’d like to be proud of ME, for more then just being a great mom. I know I have talents beyond that, as all moms do.
#11) Be in the best shape of any 40 year old I have ever met.
NOT any 40 year old on television or a magazine mind you.
#12) Take a cruise.
My husband says he hates cruises but has never been. I went on one at 17, and it was AMAZING! Best vacation ever, so I will go again, with or without him.
#13) Get a credit card, but be smart with it.
Unfortunately my ex and my son’s medical bills killed my credit, once upon a time. I want to repair it and have a card of my own within 5 years, but be smart with it, of course.
#14) Not get pregnant during this time. Well, who knows towards the tail end.
OMG my husband would sterilize himself this afternoon if he read that. HA HA! I must be insane for even saying that. Maybe I need to go back to sleep for awhile.
#15) Find a way to publicly honor my son’s life, and reach out to other families who have lost children.
Make him proud of me from up above.
#16) Become one of the top 50 mommy blogs out there, if not lower.
Like lotto…’Hey, you never know.’
#17) Have well over 10,000 Twitter followers.
#18) DEFINITELY have my dream home by then. If not, I give up.
I’m not 20!
Within 10 years….
I hope to have my dream car. A red Mercedes convertible.
It used to be a Lamborghini Countach as a child, but as I grew up, like the Luv’s commercial….’I got real.’
I don’t think that’s impossible in 10 years from now, but we shall see. I’ll be the coolest granny on the block. Just kiddin’. I got 15 years until I’m a granny….don’t I? I sure do hope so!
And happy, healthy, wonderful children, who are still proud to call me ‘mom’, and even ‘friend.’
Maybe some off the wall things I wish to accomplish before I’m 6 feet under.
#1) Write a hit song for a great singer on the radio.
#2) Go surfing, and somehow conquer my fear of sharks in the ocean.
I’d be that one in a million getting my leg if not more bit off, believe me. My luck isn’t great.
#3) Change the world for the better, in some big way.
#4) Make amends with everybody in life whose done me wrong.
Forgive them all, and find complete peace before I’m gone.
#5) Make millions of dollars and donate over 1/2 of it to charity.
#6) Be a well-known, accomplished author.
#7) Conquer my fear of flying enough, that I could actually make it all the way to Hawaii, not just Florida or Vegas.
(Making it there without hyperventilating to death, of course. Otherwise, it will be my last trip. At least let it be on the returning flight.
)
#8) Learn a second language fluently.
#9) Bungee jump.
Maybe at a place like Great Adventure or something. I can’t lie and pretend I could ever dare try it off of a bridge. That would surely kill me.
#10) Break a world record.
#11) Meet & befriend a celebrity.
#12) Stand on the side of the Hollywood sign, and have my picture taken.
#13) Own enough land for horses and other animals.
#14) Be the hippest old granny on the block.
Never grow old, and always stay fun!
#15) Go skiing.
#16) Still be running this blog/ website.
Maybe even become a household name. Hey, NOTHING is impossible.
Share a few of your hopes, dreams, and goals with me below. I would really love to hear them! Or start your own post on this seeded buzz, and link it back here. I’ll go and visit.
Take care, and may all your dreams come true. Nothing is too far fetched, and there is nothing you can’t accomplish with hard work and determination!

You want to put – learn how to use spell check, look at number 8 in “By the time I turn 37″
Come on, tell me that wasn’t F-in funny though:) The spell check didn’t pick up on the word ‘cock’…guess it’s in the dictionary as well it should be. Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to point that out. Have a nipple day…LMAO!
