More Toy Recommendations For Toddlers Ages 12-24 Months.
9-24-2011
The twincesses are 18 months, 3 weeks & 1 day old.
Whelp, it’s about that time again. We have obviously gone through more toys in the past months over here in my home, and I want to share some of my personal recommendations with you. Here are a few toys that are worth the splurge for this age group and the best prices you will find for them. Lets begin, shall we?
1) Radio Flyer Pink Fold 2 Go Trike.
At 18 months my twins can’t quite reach the pedals yet, but are very close. Regardless, man did they ever have fun being pushed around by mommy, collecting leaves in their baskets, and putting their dolls inside of the little foot holes in front you can pop open. The only thing that would make this ride better would be one of those long handles, however, within 1-2 month’s time, they won’t need that.
My daughter had the handle bike by Radio Flyer though it rusted quite easily. These will not. Plus, who can push two on their own anyhow? My twins are in the 50th percentile for height, so at 18 months this will likely be a really great buy for at least 1/2 of all toddlers, and not far off for others. I have a feeling these will be a favorite to ride.
Not only are they pink and adorable, though they sell these in the red color for boys, but they fold up which is so important as right now we have such minimal trunk space. Knowing these can fit and head off to the park with us, and with ease, is a definite plus. The price is reasonable, and the recommended age is 18 months-3 years. Definitely worth the price, plus the quality of the Radio Flyer brand can never be denied.

2) Radio Flyer Voyager Canopy Wagon
Speaking of Radio Flyer, the best invention ever created is the Radio Flyer wagon. It features pop up seats with seat belts for safety, an easy to pull handle, a storage area in back, and an optional sun canopy which my husband inadvertently broke by putting it next to one of my clothing bins that fell on it, but we will buy another for sure.
Our babies are not huge stroller fans, and I find they will sit in the wagon for way longer, take walks along with us happily, and I don’t end up pushing a stroller and carrying one or even two babies who refuse to get back inside. They actually climb right into this one and try and buckle themselves up.
You will get years of use out of this wonderful product. It rides smoothly and is well worth the money in my book! Judging by it’s popularity I see I’m not alone. Now if they could only make a triplet model for trip moms, that’d be terrific.
Best price ever on wagon & canopy at less then the price of the wagon usually..click BELOW. We paid much more & it was still worth it!

3) Big Legos: Mega Bloks
This was always a big hit with my kids as they love to start building things around this age. Smaller legos can be potential choking hazards, and blocks are harder to stack and a bit more frustrating for toddlers of this age group, so I find the large legos to be a perfect alternative. My twins love building things with these and them pulling them back apart again.
They are an inexpensive way to keep baby or babies occupied for awhile without any annoying noises and all of the bells and whistles. Legos (bloks) are classic! Don’t fool yourself…buy the big bag, especially if you have twins! You won’t regret it! (I regret not buying the bigger pack 1st for the price of it.)

4) Mega Bloks Play N’ Go Table
There is an item called the Mega Bloks Play N’ Go Table. This features a stand up table for babies to build on, and storage for the legos (bloks) underneath, so everything stays clean and nothing lost. I really like this idea and will be getting this for the twins in the next couple of weeks. It looks right up their alley. There’s also more to this table. Click below to see!

5) Fisher-Price Classic Farmer Says See N’ Say
At this age, babies are very much into animal sounds and repeating them back to you. They know that doggies go wuff, and likely know their meows, maybe moos, and definitely their piggy grunts. This is a great learning tool for them to associate a particular animal with a certain sound.
It’s educational and fun, and believe it or not keeps baby entertained for some time. My twins kind of fight over this one. They both want to be the one to make it move…ALWAYS. It’s a practical and inexpensive buy for curious young minds who are eager to learn. It also makes a great gift!
6) Aquadoodle Classic Mat
Chances are your little ones have started doodling with a crayon by the time they hit 18 months old. They have discovered which hand they are best at using, and are ready to create what they believe to be masterpieces. How can you help them do so safely? Well, tiny crayons can break and pose a choking hazard. A great alternative is a soft-tiped marker that does not mark up your walls, furniture, or rugs.
We LOVE the Aquadoodle. My daughter enjoyed this from about 18 months till about 4 years old, so this recommendation has plenty of longevity. A definite must have for multiples, but be sure to purchase an extra ‘pen’ if you don’t want a battle
.
The marker only writes on the Aquadoodle mat, and excites toddlers as they watch their movements spring into life. Some are basic models, then you have deluxe models with a few frills that cost a tad more, but I definitely, actually WE definitely recommend these for your little Picassos as it will entertain while keeping your house spic n’ span.

7) VTech Grow & Discover Lil’ Maestro Music Center
Little Maestros anyone? I have two little wanna be musicians over here that love smashing at my keyboard to make sounds (musical keyboard mind you, not my computer one…anymore.) They enjoy dancing, and attempting to sing at this age now. This toy enables toddlers to explore their musical side without busting your expensive personal equipment. My twins just love it!
It not only plays in a variety of different musical instruments, but also has an educational element where it helps teach your child numbers and shapes while having fun. The quality is tops, which means no matter what your toddler or toddler twins can dish out..VTech can handle it, and then some! A great Christmas gift for tots!

8) Fisher-Price Brilliant Basics Corn Popper Push Toy
If your toddler can walk, he or she will surely enjoy this corn popper push toy. This has been around since my day, so we are going back awhile, but it just goes to show how this toy has stood the test of time. We bought the Fisher Price model, and are VERY pleased with it. It’s an inexpensive toy, and very intriguing to young children of this age group and even a bit beyond.
My girls really love taking a broom or mop and pretending to clean and sweep the floors, so with this toy they actually get some fun encouragement back at them through movement and popping sounds. Again it’s a toy they sort of enjoy fighting over, and the price is so good I may just buy a second because it is quite practical.
The popping colorful balls help keep baby entertained through movement and encourage walking and exercise, as well as developing counting skills and visual tracking. There are not only sounds but lights as well in this particular model. At $15 and change how could you possibly go wrong? It’s a classic toy and your baby will enjoy it for some time to come.

Great list. I’m looking for toys right now so I’ll be checking out your other recommendations to. Thanks. Becki
hey shelly thanks for the great list, but you can actually get the trike in purple at http://www.walmart.com/ip/Radio-Flyer-Little-Miss-Flyer-Ready-to-Ride-Folding-Trike/9203278. just a heads up. we got it for my 2yr old ‘s birthday in march and we will have to get another soon for the youngest.
Thanks Beth. That’s cute to. It’s different in some ways, but it does fold up, which is a huge perk. My twins love the basket. I’d say most because they can’t yet ride it, lol. They’d likely rip off those streamers, but it is also cute. Wish I had one way back when:)
