Mom Gives Birth To Identical Quads At 42 & Photoshopped Women Have Surprise Reaction – 2 Stories That Touched Me This Weekend
(That just might be the longest title I have ever written 😆 .)
Since late last week I discussed the topic of older women having children, I found the 1st story quite fitting to share. Also, this has a multiples twist to boot. There’s a surprise ending that makes this story most impressive.
In the second story is something that affected me on a personal level, as someone who has battled with Body Dysmorphic Disorder most of my life, in various severities. Sometimes to the point of remaining homebound completely. (If you keep up with me on Facebook, you know that is not me now. I’m always out and about, but I do suffer sometimes just on a much, much lesser level, thankfully.)
Ok, let’s start with the 1st story. I hate to say that when I saw the picture of the white-haired lady, Kimberly Fugate, I didn’t think this woman was 42, only 4 years my senior. Her hair ages her at least a decade or two. I clicked to read the story. It was quite incredible.
A couple with zero intentions on even getting pregnant, suddenly find themselves with not 1, not 2, but 3 babies on the way in their 40’s. Shocking enough? Seems so. But what makes this story even MORE special is the fact that not only were all of their daughters’ identical, which identical triplets are extremely rare. But at the birth after baby #3 came out , the doctor replies, ”There’s more feet in here.” Could you imagine? I’d be like, ‘count ’em doctor. 1, 2, 3..everybody is here. Did someone let out the loopy gas in here? I thought that stuff was only for dentist offices.’ But nope…the doctor wasn’t loopy, though he did feel embarrassed that he had not even known about the 4th baby he just pulled from the woman’s body.
The 4th little girl had been hiding all that time (somehow, someway) within the woman’s body for the entire length of her pregnancy, which I believe was only 28 weeks in length. But for quads that isn’t bad. With all of the ultrasounds multiples get, I find that incredible! And the 4th girl was also an identical. 4 IDENTICAL GIRLS!! I once saw a story of 3 and that was shocking, but the odds for 4 identicals, and thank God they all are doing well *knock on wood*, are said to be about a 1 in 13 million shot.
Identical quadruplets means that only 1 egg somehow split a total of 4 times. Go out and buy some lottery cards lady, because you just might win! God bless her and her husband for their huge, new, unexpected family of 7! (The couple already has a 10 year old daughter.) This just goes to show that you can’t fight fate!
2) Real women get a photo shoot and then get photoshopped with a surprise & shared reaction.
I must admit that I have always wanted someone to ‘Photoshop me’ so I could see what I COULD look like. The cover girl makeover, if you will. (Hey, I made up a good title there.) If this is the outcome for most woman, it could be a booming business idea! *Don’t steal it 😉 .*
Anyway, living with Body Dysmorphic Disorder and having grown up with jealousy over most girls and then women I saw, never seeing any outward beauty within myself. Only just mounds and mounds of envy for, most especially, the seemingly flawless models in magazines, that even with youth on my side, made me feel so self-conscious and highly inadequate. My greatest desire at my lowest points in life were to be like one of them. Then life would be ‘perfect.’ As if these women have no other problems in this life. It does seem like it works that way. I know now that is not true, but I digress.
After I learned of the routine practice of photoshopping these models. (Which admittedly, made me very happy to hear about.) I wanted to see what they could do with me to make me ‘feel better’. These 5 women essentially got one of my greatest dreams come true.
Now, I still think that I would see myself perfected and be running off to find someone who could make that photograph into a reality, but who knows? (That’s probably the BDD talking.) Perhaps, I am wrong. I’d hope to be. But these women were made to look like the new ‘them’ they always dreamed of being. Absolutely gorgeous, in some cases more slim, and in all cases…flawless.
The big surprise? Not a one of them truly liked seeing their new selves. What had once given them character, their imperfections, were all suddenly erased. ‘Flawless’ wasn’t who they really were. It’s not how anybody is. It isn’t even what they wanted to be anymore. It is just an amazing piece to watch. (A great lesson for both women and younger girls to.)
I’m going to add the video that my husband showed to me yesterday so you can all see for yourselves. It’s pretty surprising, but in a good way. It is also pretty amazing just to see how much these professionals are capable of changing not only a person’s face, but their entire body! Can we trust what we see anymore? Not really. But do watch for yourself. It’s truly both amazing and enlightening.
