Is Anything Sacred? Booze For Sale At Chuck E. Cheese’s!
A New Kind Of Party, At Chuck E. Cheese, and It Ain’t For The Kiddies!
Jet Skiing Towards 5 Months Old. 🙁
I can accept a few things in life as pretty ‘normal’. Like beer sold on the boardwalk at the beach, and alcohol at Shea Stadium, during a baseball game. But God help us all, when booze hits a place, where parents go to enjoy watching their small, smiling children, enjoy some day time merriment….Chuck E. Cheese’s! What oh what, I say, is the world coming to now?
I remember being there one day about a year ago, seeing this fairly drunk woman, who was sipping something, semi-privately, and she was clearly intoxicated, sitting there with her children, and my husband and I were shocked they let her in, and that she would sneak something into such a place as this. I thought she should be taken out, and possibly arrested, before she could dare drive home, in all honesty. ‘What kind of behavior is that for a place like Chuck E. Cheese?’, we both thought to ourselves. Well, now I know, Chuckee doesn’t look down upon this behavior for moms and dad’s, they cater to it. What is next? Marijuana at Mommy and Me classes?
Now look, I’m not angel with a 24/7 halo over my head. I enjoy a glass of Merlot or two once in awhile, say when on a date with my husband, or a cold beer on a hot 4th of July, in my own backyard. But it never once, would cross my mind, to ever have a drink while watching my children play at an indoor entertainment center, and not only that, not all these people have partners with them, how are they getting their hides home?
You hardly have to drink anything nowadays to get a DWI, or DUI at least, and if you get pulled over after drinking beer, watching your kids at Chuckee Cheese, do you really think, that would be something taken lightly by Child Protective Services? Heck no, you’d probably make the news, go to jail, and possibly lose your children, so please tell me why Chuck E. Cheese would not only allow, but help promote such behavior, but having beer on their menu?
I literally was quite shocked when my friend told me this, when I saw a man with a beer in his hand, and I had to rub my eyes and look twice, because I couldn’t believe it. She acted surprised that I didn’t know, so obviously this isn’t a really new practice. Heck, without my contacts which I can’t wear lately because of dry eye problems, and I only wear my glasses when I get into the car, I never read the full menu, just order the pizza, so it’s nothing I ever noticed before, until now.
OH…just checked out the online Chuckee menu, guess what? I was wrong, not only do they serve beer, they have wine to boot!!! Perhaps behind the cotton candy and helium balloons, is where they hide the liquors! I’ll tell you, I just am really shocked a place like this, that is geared towards such small children, not older ones even, like a Dave and Busters type of establishment, and a place that seems to care about children, and prides themselves on keeping children safe. Uses the glow stamps to make sure you are leaving with the right child, etc etc. (They even give me two stickers for my newborn twins in their strollers, and check them on the way out).
How a place like THAT, can serve booze to parents, and maybe even predators, (Hey you never do know), so they can go into the parking lot, and drive away intoxicated, kids in tow, possibly striking one of our own cars, or someone else’s, or worse yet, possibly running over a child, God forbid. I mean the parking lots can be pretty crowded & at times, scary on their own, and there are a lot of children walking in the area, small ones at that, among other things that come to mind that might transpire, due to alcohol abuse there…I just think Chuckee seriously needs to re-think these adult, ‘menu’ items. It just doesn’t sit right in my gullet, and I’m sure many of you moms reading this would agree.
It’s not a hang out for older people, like some ‘Arcade style’ places, that serve full dinners, and cater to adults at certain hours. This is a place, I have let my children run free in, since they were wee ones. ( Certainly I watch them, but it’s a place, where you don’t have to always be in mommy panic mode, like an open park, or a crowded mall, etc. etc.) I guess is why it’s so shocking to me. A place where infants, toddlers, and small kids roam free, should remain booze free, if you ask me!! It’s solely geared towards the small ones, not even tweens will go there, trust me I know, my son never wanted to. So I just don’t see the need for a night cap at Chuckees.
Chuckee (Chuck E., however you want to be called), please, don’t sell alcohol in your establishments. It hurts your reputation, and puts you at liability should anything happen, so why take a chance for a few extra dollars? I’m definitely NOT a stick in the mud, not by far, but there truly is a time, and a place for everything, and this just ain’t the time, nor the place to get your drink on, in this appalled, mother’s opinion.
Ok….I will say aside from that revelation, I had a great time with my friend and the kids yesterday. So nice to see them after 4 months. She just could not get enough of the babies. I’m sure the hubby enjoyed the 5 hours of peace and quiet, I left him home with. Don’t get used to it honey 😀 . Just kidding, even daddy’s need a break every now and again, and I do enjoy giving that time to him whenever I can!
Until next time….From my livingroom to yours, this is Shelly, signing off!
