(Most Recent To most distant, 2010, Baby/ child related, ‘Spring’ recalls. Past 2 mo.)
The adorable Shrek drinking glasses, that were being sold nationwide, by Mc Donald’s, have been recalled. They are tainted with the toxic chemical cadmium, which is a heavy metal, particularly dangerous, to young children, and can affect the bones and kidneys adversley, so if you have any of these glasses, get in contact with Mc Donald’s and dispose properly of the glasses. DO NOT USE THEM!
They are offering refunds of $3 per Shrek glass, so do inquire within. I almost bought a few of these. Not particularly a Shrek fan, but they were cute and priced reasonably. Glad I didn’t, but millions did, so if you are one of them, and not yet know about the recall, please do not use the glasses, after reading this now!
BIG recall by Tylenol! McNeil Consumer Healthcare, has voluntarilly recalled some of their products, because they may not meet required quality standards. Be safe, and toss your tylenol children’s products, ESPECIALLY if it is listed in the link below. (After filling out the info. for your cash refunds of course, discussed below, also with link).
They say, some of the products included in the recall, may contain a higher concentration of active ingredients then specified, and then others may contain inactive ingredients, that may not meet internal testing requirements. They go on to say, that others may include tiny particles, which cannot be good, so discontinue all use, and seek the makers of your tylenol products, here at the link below.

Massive dropside crib recalls this spring. Simplicity brand and Graco branded, drop side cribs were included in the recall, after others including Stork Craft, had been recalled in the months prior. Looks as if the the drop sided cribs of the past, that years ago, we ALL had, are now going to be a memory, because of far too many infant injuries, due to failure of the drop sides, and children falling out of the cribs or getting stuck in the gap between the drop side rail and the mattress.
Entrapment, suffocation hazards, and strangulation, are among the hazards listed for the recalled cribs. I suggesst at this point, if you have any brand of drop side crib, you replace it with a fixed side crib immediately. Seems as if they will all be extinct shortly. The risks are just too scarey, and with your most precious cargo, you don’t want to take any, so that is my personal opinion. I’m very glad at this point, that I did not go drop side with the girls.
This photograph, shows a chilling and very scarey example of what can happen. There have been hundreds of injuries, and 4 related deaths, which is just too many in my book, so if you are in the market for a crib, please do buy carefully, and buy FIXED!

Another child related recall, that came out this early Spring, is for Infantino SlingRider Baby Slings. Of course when this news broke, I happened to look across the room to my elliptical, where thesexact sling was hanging, awaiting it’s use (Don’t we find the weirdest things to do with our exercise equiptment, other then exercise?), but I digress, I was like, holy cow, I have that same sling, and used it almost 5 yrs ago with my daughter.
Apparently, there were several sling related deaths. A 7 week old newborn baby, a 6 day old child, and a 3 month old baby. If you are unsure if you have this paticular brand or model of sling, refer to the model name and photograph, I included to make it even easier for you. Note, it also has been made in a blue color as well. I believe it might be the older model.
It’s a soft fabric baby carrier, with a padded shoulder strap, it’s worn across the parents chest, and over the shoulder, fits up to 20 lbs, and has ‘Infantino’ printed on the plastic slider, located on the strap. Mine I know has a navy blue outter shell.
Apparently, this carrier can lead to suffocation, and this is why it is being recalled, not for the baby falling out, or anything like that. Seems that a babies’ face can be pressed against the side of the sling, which could cause them to not be able to breathe. You want to be able to see your babies’ face in ANY sling style carrier you use, because the risk of suffocation, is very real. I can’t even imagine. Babies under 4 months of age are most vunerable, but do NOT use it at all, despite the age of your child.
I’ll be contacting the company, as they are offering a replacement product to those who have this baby sling. You can exchange it for a Wrap and Tie infant carrier, a 2 in 1 shopping cart cover, or a 3 in 1 grow & play, activity gym. A jittery Pals rattle will also be provided, so definately give a call or visit their website. I’ll provide you with this info.

Apparently the Wendy Bellissimo Sling is also included in the recall, so if you have that, please contact Infantino, as well.
That is all for now, and hopefully for a long, long while, as where recalls are concerned. Have a great & very safe, rest of the week
