Happy New Years! What A Change A Year Can Make! (Plus, Some Twinpirational Quotes.)
12-31-2010
The twins are 3 days shy of 10 months old. Hanging on to 9 mo. though…by a thread!
Wow! Last year at this time, I was so nervous as my due date with the twins started creeping closer, and the new year was coming which made 2010, the year of my due date, all the more real, and now here we are closing in on 2011.
My, how fast time flies, as that seems not more then a few months ago, much less a full year. (If my backup drive wasn’t dead, I’d share a picture from last year. I need to have it recovered, after our other holiday bills are paid up, ugh!)
I remember, I had a God awful rash on my large and ever growing belly, which those who read the pregnancy portion of my blog know about, if not…I was one of the unlucky .4% (some crazy obscure number like that), of women who get something called Pityriasis Rosea, between the ages of a teen and age 34, which of course I WAS 34, that not only looked disgusting, but made each day a living hell of itchiness, tossing and turning, and a lot of cursing to. That mess I won’t soon forget.
To have that and be pregnant with twins was absolutely terrible, but all just a memory now, as the ugly itchy rash is gone, and the twins are approaching their first birthday, in only 2 short months, which boggles my brain. Amazing what a sole year can do, isn’t it?!
Looking back at the past year, all I can do is sit back in amazement. (When I can sit.) How did these tiny peanuts not only come out of ME, but how do they change so much, so fast? How do they captivate, and intrigue me so much? A year ago I could not have possibly imagined all of the smiles, and wonderful chaos yet to come. I was just so scared, I couldn’t imagine all of the happiness in my future, they would bring.
I do however remember vividly, my mom staring at me at 14 weeks pregnant, when we told her it was twins. She looked me square in the eye and said, ‘Wow twins. Your life is completely over, so get used to that now.’ I remember how frightened she had me, like 1 baby is ok, but two at once, say goodbye to any life of your own, and enjoy kid crazy madness forever, and I say POO ON YOU MA! Never listen to a soul who hasn’t had twins themselves. (Important rule I have learned the hard way.)
My life didn’t end, some of the most wonderful aspects of it, had only just begun, and are happening everyday. Should have never let naysayers get me down, and that means family (yes), included.
I am actually pretty proud of myself, and my whole family. The twins brought with them many changes, and yes some challenges, but nothing close to anything we all couldn’t handle, and so far the ride has been spectacular, and I just can’t wait to see what God has in store for us next. (As long as it’s not triplets.)
I KNOW after having multiples, those would indeed be a blessing to, but our little family, that isn’t so little anymore, is definitely done in the baby department.
And as another year closes and a new one is about to begin, we reflect on the past, revel in the present, and hold high hopes for the future, knowing with our family, we are never alone, and are always loved and needed. Happy New Year to all of the moms and the dads, all of the sisters and the brothers. All of the children and babies, celebrating their very first New Year’s change over, or one of their firsts, of many to come.
Twinpossible loves you all, and cannot wait to see you, and greet you, in the coming New Year of 2011! God Bless!

PS- The long post about my hospital ordeal is nearly completed, and will be up shortly. I am still quite ill, so it’s been hard to get any work done online in recent days. My apologies for that delay. Have a wonderful evening with your families folks!
