Are you a fruit fan who also enjoys a tasty cup of yogurt to snack on? Well Dannon combines both in the most scrumptious of ways with their new Okios Greek yogurt.
It has real, plump, fresh fruit on the bottom, or comes traditionally blended depending on your particular preference, and has a thicker, creamier texture then your average yogurt, or even their own regular brand, which has always been very tasty to start with.
Coming from someone who does enjoy yogurt but doesn’t eat it as much as she would like, this was a great opportunity for me to get back in the game and to also try something new.
I went to the store and picked myself up 3 yummy flavors to review. Black Cherry, Peach, and Blueberry. They do have honey and plain for those who like to add their own fresh fruit, among others. The containers are generously sized 5.3 ounce containers, and shockingly are fat free or super low in fat, depending on which you choose, and only 130 calories per cup! That made this mom’s eyes widen further.
Dannon® Oikos® Plain and Fruit on the Bottom contains 0% fat, while the Dannon® Oikos® traditional blended varieties contains about 3% fat. Both are an excellent source of protein, twice that of most regular low-fat yogurts.
It’s quite a luxurious snack for those 130 calories. let me tell you. It’s also more filling then a typical yogurt because of the heavier, more rich texture. Dannon® Oikos® 0% fat berry flavors beat Chobani® 2 to 1 in a national taste test.* It certainly wins out over Chobani to me, which I was instructed by my dietitian to eat as a snack while having gestational diabetes with the twins.
The Dannon brand far surpasses Chobani in taste and texture. I can completely attest to that. Here is their commercial which will have you drooling in two ways. The delicious looking yogurt AND John Stamos .
Both are so yummy!
So would I recommend Okios to my readers (friends)? You bet ya! If you are into cooking, Okios yogurt also makes a wonderful ingredient for so many culinary creations. Here is a link to some of those recipes HERE.
Oikos comes in single serves, such as I purchased for on the go snacking. They come in 4 packs for fast family treats, or quarts for the true Dannon Oikos lover. Not to mention Stonyfeild Organic Oikos.
No matter which size or flavor you choose you are sure to enjoy this fabulous new anytime dessert from the company you have trusted for yummy yogurt for nearly 70 years…DANNON!
