Crayola Color Explosion Glow Dome, Twinpossible Written & Video Review!
Do you have a future Rembrandt at home? Or at least one, who likes to pretend he might be?
Well, you can easily tickle your child’s creative side, with the Crayola Color Explosion Glow Dome.
This toy, takes us back to the days where imagination ruled 90% of everything we did, which is awesome! Too many things kids want today, don’t take much in the way or thought, or creativity, so to bring these important things ‘To light’, so to speak, is a real find!
Your child can create, time, and time, and time again, with the glow dome. They simply wipe their past creation away, and start a-new. There isn’t anything a mom has to do, but take a peek, and applaud their child’s creation!
Features & Positives:
1) Nice size dome.
This makes for plenty of drawing space.
2) Inside panel, where your child can draw more.
With this panel they can create the subject(s) or object(s), inside of their ‘Scene’, as they grow. (My 5 yo isn’t there yet, but still this age group, will enjoy this!)
3) 3 Different speeds, to rotate their scene with.
4) You can choose, flashing lights inside, or stationary lights.
(On all the time.)
5) Comes with 6 markers.
They come in a nice array of colors.
6) Very easy, for your child to clean and operate, themselves!
(A BIG plus!)
7) Babies in the house will love to look at this!
If you have real little ones, or babies in the house, they will be intrigued by the lights, and motion, as well.
8) Features LED lights, so it never gets ‘Hot’ to the touch.
That means, no burns!
9) Price + What you get for it = Happy mommy!
The price is worth what you get, so it’s an overall great value. I paid $25, and nabbed the last one, but on Amazon you can get it for $20 & free shipping! (I’d say it’s worth up to $30, even $35, but get it for much less.)
10) Definitely inspires the little artist in every child!
Not enough toys nowadays, use children’s minds and their creative flair all in one, so this is a great find!
My 5 year old, doesn’t have a huge attention span when it comes to toys, however, in the past couple of weeks, that she has had this toy, it has been taken out many times, which has impressed me greatly. Now if only the kids would remember to put the tops back on their markers, what a wonderful world it would be. 😆
In a sea of video games, and things where you child doesn’t use any real creativity, and imagination, this toy is cut above the rest. It’s the 80’s ‘Light Brite’, but better, taken into the 21st century.
If you watch my video review below, you will see, I caught my daughter off guard at the end, by asking her, her overall rating for this product. She first said 100, before I explained that it was on a 1-5 scale, and then she picked 5.
The reason I picked a 4.5 rating, and averaged it out to an overall rating of 4.75, is a couple of things, but if I could choose to re-buy or not re-buy, I certainly WOULD re-buy. The pros heavily outweigh the cons.
1) No optional A/C plug adaptor.
(However, it doesn’t drain batteries very easily). If it had an adaptor though, this would make an amazing night light for kids of all ages. (Just a little hint for Crayola!)
2) The age group I feel, isn’t as wide as it says.
Ages 6-15, in fact I say, ages 4 or 5- about 11 or 12 years of age, tops. My son is 14, and has no interest in it, but if you have a 15 year old who really loves to draw, they might be interested in this product still.
I know me at 15 would have loved it, but what did we have back then for competition? Atari? Certainly not Wii’s and X-boxes. I’d say 5-10, would be an average in the best age group, in Twinpossible’s opinion, but every child IS different, so take yours into account. You may even enjoy it yourself! *Wink, wink!*
3) The drawback is that you need it to be dark to use.
You need to have it either be night time, bring it into a closet, or have dark shades or blinds on the windows. That somewhat limits play time, if you don’t have shades (Etc.), but for times where it’s possible to have some darkness in the area, this is an amazing new toy, and a great gift idea for Christmas!
Twinpossible does recommend this product, to moms and dads for Christmas, and gives it an overall Twinpossible rating of:
