50 Year Anniversary Of Martin Luther King’s ‘I Have A Dream’ Speech
I don’t usually share things like this. Sometimes the 90’s seem like ancient history to me. It’s easy to lose sight of the meaning behind a holiday. Especially one that precedes your birth. As a child we think of it as, ‘A day off of school…YAY!” As an adult we think of it as, ‘Oh, a day off of school. Boo…’ (Just kidding. In part, ha ha 😆 .)
I woke up and I realized when looking through my AOL mail that Martin Luther King’s infamous speech is now 50 years old. It’s such a well-known speech that every one of us outside of a cardboard box has had to have heard some of it in our lifetimes. Admittedly, I have never heard all of it, but I’m going to play it here on my blog and try and capture the essence of what this holiday is really about.
I’m the first to admit how crazy easy it is to forget these things. Sometimes I feel bad about it when I do. So feel free to watch along with me and remember the powerful words of a man that was and still is so deeply inspiring to so many people.
I’m usually mute today. As usual when I fail at that..my apologies 😛 .
